Father of the bride:

Affectionately your nickname is often "chequebook" but don't take it to heart. The words "how much" may ring in your ears for years. It's a great day for you, especially after all that planning! Essentially you have little to do compared to the bride and groom, so take the time to enjoy the day.

Prior to the Wedding:

Keep track of the process and be supportive.

Realise that no matter what you say this is not your day, give helpful suggestions and walk away.

Think about what you want to wear on the day, although most likely the bride will tell you.

The Wedding day:

On the day, stay away! Be within earshot only.

Be there to accompany the bride to ceremony.

You will most probably escort the bride down the aisle.

You may give the bride away.

Prepare a speech for the reception.

The Reception:

Sometimes you will be seated at the wedding table.

You may need to prepare a speech.

Have fun, real FUN
